HARD WORK, FOCUS, & TECHNIQUE

This 50-minute class serves as an engaging introduction to ballet, tap, and tumbling. It focuses on coordination, movement, visual stimulation, and enjoyable games to support learning and fun.

This 50-minute class introduces basic ballet, tap, and acro techniques and vocabulary in a structured setting. Students develop rhythm, coordination, and self-confidence.

This 50-minute class further develops students' technical skills and vocabulary knowledge in ballet, and tap while offering an engaging and supportive environment for skill acquisition.

This 50-minute ballet and tap class readies dancers for Academy classes, emphasizing age-appropriate development. Students in this class have the option to add Acro and HipHop as electives.

The ballet program teaches dancers strong technique through traditional ballet. Students learn proper placement, turnout, technique and vocabulary in a disciplined environment while developing strong work ethics and discipline in a positive atmosphere. Jazz focuses on building strong technique, strength, and flexibility. Classes incorporate stretching, across the floor combinations, and choreography. Students learn different turns, jumps, leaps, and extensions while incorporating them into many different styles of jazz, including street jazz and musical theater. The tap program concentrates on both rhythmic and classical tap methods. Students learn vocabulary, rhythmic timing, and improvisation and choreography. (Requirement for Performance Ensemble, Competitive, & Company Dancers)

Horton is the modern dance technique of Lester Horton. Through its study, strength, flexibility, and a balanced body can be attained. In Horton modern class, dancers will examine the technique fundamentals exploring elements of the studies and fortifications and incorporating them into choreographic phrases both in the center and across the floor. Contemporary dance incorporates techniques from ballet, jazz, and lyrical in new spectacular ways and focuses on the choreographer’s interpretation of the music. Movements are limitless as they represent the dancer’s emotions and inner most expression. This is a fun and up-beat class that integrates many different styles of hip-hop including pop and lock, street, and break dancing. Students learn isolation of movement and body control technique and choreography as well as trending dance moves in pop culture. Musical Theatre is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. Classes incorporate the style of dance one would typically see on a Broadway stage. This form of dancing emphasizes learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions.

World Styles is based on a multicultural curriculum which explores dance styles from around the world. Styles taught include West African, Afro-Beats, Afro-Jazz, Indian, Latin and many others. This class will help dancers expand their scope of vernacular and movement styles as well as the historical context in which they come from. Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes. Students must have a solid foundation in ballet technique, complete the required summer coursework for eligibility, and be enrolled in at least two ballet classes. Student placement in Pointe is at the sole discretion of the director.​

These classes are designed to train dancers in turns, leaps, and jumps. Dancers execute exercises and combinations to build core strength and technique as well as center work, across the floor, and choreography.

These classes are open to all levels of students and are designed to improve flexibility and develop muscles associated with dance training. These will also incorporate injury prevention techniques as well as physical therapy aspects.

Acro classes incorporate gymnastic technique, flexibility training, acrobatic floor skills, and partner work. This class incorporates flexibility and strength training as well as building interpersonal and group working skills.
